PREOBRAJENSKA opened the Phantom House Stables account for 2017 with a smooth success in the 7f maiden at Kempton this afternoon.
The daughter of Paco Boy, carrying the colours of Bill and Tim Gredley, was having her first start for the team but had shown promise last season and put this experience to good use under Josephine Gordon. She tracked the well-fancied Global Alexander in the early stages, settling into a good rhythm. When the leader quickened Preobranjenska kept her in her sights and responded well to pressure to lead inside the closing stages, winning by half a length.
William said: “Preobrajenska is the first I have trained for Mr Gredley and she is a home-bred filly so it was important to get her a win. Michael (Bell) has done the hard work with her as I have had her little more than a month .”
