L’Addition was a rare winning debutant for the team when taking a six-furlong fillies’ maiden at Lingfield this afternoon. Clive Washbourn’s filly showed a professional attitude throughout, travelling strongly on the heels of the leaders under Ted Durcan.
The split came on the final bend and L’Addition showed a decent turn of foot to hit the front. Once in the lead Ted kept her up to her work but victory was never in doubt and she went on to win by a length and a quarter.
William said of the daughter of Exceed And Excel: “We don’t have that many that win first time out so for her to do so was very encouraging. “She has shown promise at home and did it nicely today. We’ll see what the handicapper does before deciding on a target. I am thrilled for Clive who was at Lingfield to cheer her own and was extremely excited by her victory.”
It was almost a double as Madamoiselle Bond finished a close second in a nursery at Catterick. Sally Hall’s filly came with a late rattle under Kevin Stott but was denied by Izzthathright by three-quarters of a length.
In the evening Beakers N Num Nums was third at Sandown over a mile and a quarter, he was only beaten three lengths and will be upped in trip next time out.
William said ‘Let’s hope Bishan Bedi can continue the fine run we are enjoying at the moment when he runs at Leicester on Thursday.’
