JUANITO Chico will represent the William Jarvis team on Oaks day at Epsom this afternoon when he contests the Investec Foreign Exchange Handicap over 7f.
The son of Pour Moi, owned by Tony Verrier, has run well on both his starts to date this season and was last seen finishing a close third in a handicap at Ascot. That was over a mile but William doesn’t feel that the drop back to seven furlongs will hinder his chances tomorrow. He said: “Juanito Chico seems in good form and has been working nicely. He has run very well on both his starts so far this season and was arguably unlucky on both occasions. He deserves to win a decent race like this and hopefully he can run well. Epsom rides quite stiff as a track and he has shown plenty of speed so the drop in trip should be fine.”
Silvestre De Sousa rides and Epsom’s unique undulations are unlikely to cause any problems with Juanito Chico finishing second over course and distance last season and also winning at Brighton.
