Juanito Chico in action at HQ

JUANITO Chico is due to make a quick return to the fray when he tackles the 7f 3yo handicap at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon.

The son of Pour Moi, owned by Tony Verrier, was an impressive winner over the same trip at Epsom last Friday and appears to have come out of that race in good shape.

He was raised 7lb by the handicapper for that emphatic success but William is hoping that he remains a three-year-old on the up.  He said: “We were delighted with Juanito Chico’s win at Epsom. He had been unlucky at Sandown and Ascot so deserved to get his head in front.  He did it well and I think there is more to come from him. He is a horse we have always liked and he is tough – he takes his racing well.  Off his current mark of 87, it would be touch and go as to whether he would get a run in the Britannia but so hopefully he can go well tomorrow and ensure we get a run at Ascot.”

Silvestre De Sousa, who was aboard at Epsom, will be in the saddle again.
