ALL at Phantom House were thrilled with Rock A Doodle Doo’s close second in a highly competitive handicap at Sandown last Friday.
The son of Oratorio looked like the likely winner for much of the contest before just getting caught close home by the highly regarded Michael Stoute- trained Verdant.
William is pleased with how his charge has come out of that race and hopes that there is more to come from him as the season goes on.
He said: “Rock A Doodle Doo ran another good race. He probably bumped into a pretty useful colt of Stoute’s but again he has shown us that he is as good on the turf and hopefully he can progress again.
“He has come out of the race very well and although plans are not set in stone he could go back to Sandown for a handicap on May 20.”
On the runner’s front this week it is very quiet but William is hoping that Katy’s Secret can break her maiden at Folkestone tomorrow.
The daughter of Mind Games lines up in a 6f handicap and will be partnered by former Champion jockey, Frankie Dettori.
At the weekend all eyes turn to Newmarket where the Guineas take centre stage. It is unfortuntate that no inmate from Phantom House will be in the line up but William will be watching with interest.
He said: “As regular readers of this website know tipping is not my forte but I do have a couple of fancies for the Guineas.
“In the 2000 I do think that St Nicholas Abbey will take all the beating. I know it’s predictable but all the vibes are good and I think he could be very special. My other tip is a long shot of David Elsworth’s, Fair Trade, who is available at around 50/1.
“In the 1000 I have always been a big fan of Luca Cumani’s Seta and if the forcast rain arrives she should be a major player especially with Kieren Fallon having picked her over Nell Gwyn winner, Music Show.”
