SMOKEY STORM came late to land the spoils by a head in the juvenile maiden at Brighton on Sunday.

The BK partnership-owned son of One Cool Cat ran on strongly for pressure to beat Brenin Taran in the five-furlong contest, the pair pulling five-lengths clear of the third-placed horse.

The Racing Post was impressed by the performance marking the winner - Phantom House's first juvenile scorer of 2008 - down as above average”.

Fourth on his previous start at Windsor, Smokey Storm looks sure to progress now he has broken his maiden.

Trainer William Jarvis said: "He could run in the Woodcote at Epsom as he has handled this track well.”
