ORIENTAL Scot gained a first career success at Nottingham yesterday  evening when landing a mile classified race.
The Dr Jim Walker-owned colt was sent off at odds of 4/1 following  three encouraging runs last year.
The race itself was straightforward enough with jockey Joe Fanning  taking Oriental Scot to the front as soon as they left the gates.
He set the perfect fractions by gradually quickening the tempo up  the long straight before bounding to a six length win.
Trainer William Jarvis has always thought a lot of this son of  Selkirk and all at Phantom House are hopeful that he has a bright  future ahead of him.
William said: “Dr Jim and I organised this plot for Oriental Scot  when he was stranded over here due to the volcanic ash cloud and  it’s great that it actually came to fruition.
“I thought that he was extremely impressive and although he probably  didn’t beat much he couldn’t have done it any better.
“I hope he can build on this and can go on to better things.”
