| Longevity gave everyone a few scares before breaking his maiden in a median auction maiden at Southwell today (May 13).
The Olden Times colt was expected to make light work of his opponents based on a fair fourth in a Newbury maiden last month.
Sent off a warm order at 4/6 the race didn't quite pan out as the market suggested with jockey Kerrin McEvoy needing to pull out all the stops to get the done.
He'd travelled okay before appearing to want to duck in behind the eventual second late on in the 7f event.
But McEvoy straightened his mount out and drove him on to score by a neck. Cue major sighs of relief for the Phantom House team!
