CLERK’S Choice will bid to return to winning ways when he contests a 1m2f handicap at Chester this afternoon.
The son of Bachelor Duke had been highly progressive, winning a competitive Sandown handicap before being slightly disappointing last time out at Newmarket’s July Meeting.
Connections are hopeful that he remains in good form and can bounce back to form today.
William Jarvis said: “I hope that despite not having a great draw he can be competitive.
“If he can return to the sort of form he was in earlier in the season he should go well.”
He faces a field of 12 and Alan Munro will be in the saddle.
Tomorrow Papyrian heads to a Bath maiden in order to try and get a first win to his name.
The superbly-bred brother to Grand Lodge has been gelded since his last racecourse outing and connections are hopeful that this will help him put his best foot forward.
William added: “As he is so well bred it was upsetting to have to cut him but we hope it will see an improvement in his attitude and that he is capable of winning.”
Sunday sees Musigny drop down to selling company at Folkestone where Jarvis hopes he can run well.
On the same card Areeg is set to make her racecourse debut in the 7f maiden.
Jarvis said: “She is by Doyen and a half-sister to Dewhurst winner, Tout Seul. She may need her first run but has been working nicely at home.”
