LAST week was very busy for everyone with plenty of runners and the ongoing yearling sales at Tattersalls. But despite all this, it didn’t not go unnoticed that William turned 50 on Thursday.

“I managed to reach the grand old age of 50.” He said. “Unfortunately I was too busy in the week to have a proper celebration but made up for it on Sunday with a lovely lunch. It was a very pleasant afternoon surrounded by a number of my fellow Newmarket trainers who were all in very good form.

“We acquired eight hopefully nice yearlings last week and are already busy breaking them in. They include colts by Dutch Art, Authorized, Holy Roman Emperor and Sir Percy.”

On the runners front things are beginning to slow down but William is hoping to continue to have runners on the all-weather.

Tomorrow Stoical will aim to get off the mark in a 1m3f maiden at Kempton while on Friday Royal Willy is likely to be in action at Wolverhampton.

Next week sees the return of the Horses In Training Sale at Tattersalls and a number of Phantom House inmates are set to be sold.

William added: “We are offering about half a dozen horses for sale next week and hopefully will buy an older horse too.”
