IT HAS been a busy week both work-wise and socially for trainer William Jarvis as he details below.
“Last Saturday morning saw a welcome visit from Jamie Bowditch, Jim Wilkes, Darren (Mel) Brooks, Gary (Panda) Read and John (Punch) Onyett to see the horses - Royal Willy, Kerchak and Cuthbert - that they have in partnership.
“They came back to Phantom House for a very good breakfast and Mel Brooks capped what I trust was a very enjoyable day for them by managing to back the Tom George-trained winner of the Racing Post Chase.
“Tuesday night saw me at the Emirates Stadium to watch the Champions’ League clash between Arsenal and Roma. I was very fortunate to be invited as a guest of Alex Henchley, a friend of William Haggas, who I went with from Newmarket.
“I was very impressed with the stadium and the way Arsenal played in their 1-0 win. I hope, for Alex’s sake, that Arsenal complete the job as he is off to Rome for the second leg.
“Back on the home front, happily the weather has been much milder and it’s been pleasing to see the horses beginning to stride out on Warren Hill grass.
“This morning we welcomed back J-P Guillambert from his work-riding stint in America with Todd Pletcher. He rode Archie Rice and Rock A Doodle Doo on the grass.
“We are also looking forward to Michael Tebbutt’s return to us. He will come in on a regular basis on gallops as I’m sure will Alan Munro, who will soon be back from his winter abroad.”
