TRAINER William Jarvis reflected this morning on the events of the last week or so.
On a sad note Jarvis was both devastated and absolutely stunned to hear about the tragic death of his great friend Pip Payne on Monday.
He said: “He was a great mate to me and my thoughts are very much with his wife Linda and his three sons, James, Nick and William at this sad time. It really does put life into perspective.”
“Dr Jim Walker returned to Hong Kong having been over in the UK for his annual summer break. He was able to see three or four of his horses perform and despite none of them entering the winner’s circle I was very encouraged by the performance of Hayek’s in his racecourse debut at Newmarket last week.”
Jarvis was also thrilled with the Kerchak’s introduction at Sandown where he finished a staying-on sixth.
He added: “Jimmy Fortune gave him a nice introduction and the horse will benefit enormously from the experience.
“I can see him making into a better than average two year old.”
Papyrian, Clerk’s Choice and Archie Rice were all in action on racecourse side this week when they worked on the peat moss gallop.
Jarvis reflected: “It was the best ground that I had used all year and I was thrilled especially with the way Archie Rice worked”. |
