GOOD NEWS - the cold snap has lifted and there is a definite whiff of spring in the air around Newmarket.
It’s noticeable that everyone is pushing on and the training grounds were a veritable hive of activity this morning.
From first lot Warren Hill was heaving with horses and someone mentioned that it’s only just over five weeks to the Lincoln! Yes, the Flat is almost back…
As if to indicate that the new season is only around the corner that is the month of March, trainer William Jarvis had a good-sized bunch of two-year-olds going on a stride up Warren Hill polytrack.
William was joined by Rabbah Bloodstock’s racing director Bruce Raymond to witness Abdullah Saeed Belhab’s juvenile trio stretching out.
In the first bunch came an unnamed Tiger Hill colt out of Dunloskin and he was followed up by another quarter which included the same owner’s Doyen filly (ex Total Aloof) and a good-moving daughter of first-season sire Shamardal.
Others to catch the eye were Dr Jim Walker’s Royal Applause colt Hayek and the Silverback Partnership’s Kerchak. Chestnut filly Guesswork, owned by John and Sue Davis, looks to be going forward, too.
