WILLIAM has been a strong supporter of the Horsemen’s Tariffs since their introduction at the beginning of the turf season.
For this reason he has not declared Bouggatti in a 1m4f handicap at Leicester on Friday as the race falls £2,000 below the tariff level.
William along with the other trainers with horses entered in the race have decided not to declare their horses to ensure the race is void.
William adds: “I entered Bouggatti at Leicester by mistake as the race is £2,000 below the tariff and I am a believer that we should support the Horsemen’s tariff.
“In this instance it is the second meeting running that Leicester has will end up with a walkover or void race.
“I am certain that the majority of racecourses can find the necessary funds to meet with the tariffs and surely this is of overall benefit for the industry.
“We do not need the adverse publicity in racing especially with one of our showpiece races happening at Newmarket his weekend.”
