DR Jim Walker’s famously bright colours have been in tremendous form of late being carried to victory by both Loki’s Revenge and Oriental Scot.

He will be hopeful of more success when he watches Stirling Bridge make his debut in the 6f maiden at Newmarket this afternoon.

The son of Kyllachy, a 42,000gns purchase at the Breeze-ups, faces 17 rivals but should go well based on his encouraging homework.

William said: “We have booked Tom Queally for the ride and I hope he can run a nice race. I’m sure he will come on for the race but his homework has been very satisfactory so I hope he will make a good account of himself.”

Tomorrow Oriental Scot will bid for back-to-back wins in a 1m2f handicap again at Newmarket. The son of Selkirk won his last start at Thirsk in fine-style and looks to be a horse on the upgrade.

William added: “We have decided to step him up to a mile and a quarter which I think will help him. He was impressive at Thirsk last time and has been put up 8lb by the handicapper.

“This doesn’t make his task easy as it is a competitive race but he is an improving horse and he should go well. Ian Mongan rides.”

Mongan will also get the leg-up on Kay Gee Be in the mile handicap. The son of Fasliyev has already won at Ascot this season and put up a good performance when fourth at Sandown last time out.

William said: “He is hard to win with but he seems to be very enthusiastic and should have a good each way chance.”
