ROCK A Doodle Doo completed a hat-trick of wins this afternoon when taking a 1m2f handicap at Lingfield.

The son of Oratorio’s two previous victories had both come on the all-weather, at Wolverhampton and here at Lingfield.

Today’s field was tougher than any he had ever tackled before with all four of the declared runners having won on their previous start.

However, Rock A Doodle came into the race with an improving profile and was sent off the 4/5 favourite with his main market danger Whipper’s Love at odds of 15/8.

The pace in the early stages of the contest was pedestrian to say the least but Rock A Doodle Doo settled well in third for jockey Jim Crowley.

On entering the final half mile the leader began to quicken the tempo and Crowley was forced to niggle away at his mount for a few strides.

He responded well to this pressure and was soon on terms with the leaders before being driven out to record a neck success.

The only scary moment for connections was when a Stewards' Enquiry was called as Crowley’s mount had interfered with Whipper’s Love in the final furlong forcing his jockey to stop riding for a couple of strides.

Luckily the Stewards deemed that this interference did not affect the result and Rock A Doodle Doo was in the clear.

Not many horses win three races, let alone three on the bounce, and all at Phantom House can give themselves a pat on the back this evening.

As for Rock A Doodle Doo, he remains very upwardly mobile and is an exciting prospect for the turf season.
