ALL at Phantom House will be sad to see Gravitation leave the yard tomorrow to commence her new career as a broodmare for her owner Lady Howard de Walden.

The beautiful daughter of Galileo was a real flag-bearer for the William Jarvis team last season when she ran consistently well all year.

The highlight of her career on the racetrack came at Glorious Goodwood 2008 when she courageously out battled subsequent Group 1 winner Folk Opera to land the Group 3 Lillie Langtry Stakes.

Her other efforts include a third place in the Queen’s Vase and Royal Ascot and a good second to Donegal in the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket.

She was renowned for her toughness and unquestionable stamina and will be a tremendous asset to Lady Howard’s team of mares. William reflected: “Unfortunately she has failed to really train on this year so we have decided to retire her.

“She was a wonderful filly, so talented and brave, and will make a lovely broodmare for Lady Howard especially as she is superbly bred and her close relation, Fame and Glory, is now a leading contender for the Arc following his rout in the Irish Derby .”
