WILLIAM JARVIS will this weekend have his first runners of the new turf season with Kay Gee Be set to get the ball rolling on home soil at Newmarket.

The five-year-old has been declared to run on Saturday in the £50,000 Suffolk Stakes, a heritage handicap staged over 9f.

William said: “It is very competitive but I’ve been very pleased with his work so far and am hoping that he can run a big race. I think he is a nice each-way chance.”

On the same day Wasp is in at Thirsk for its Hunt Cup and Grey Granite may also run there – as long as the rain comes.

He could tackle the 1m 4f maiden on what would be the second start of his life, but may be re-routed to Salisbury for a similar race 24 hours later.

The trainer said: “I’m itching to get Grey Granite on the racecourse again but he is ground dependant. We are having to see where the rain lands.

“But the way the forecast looks, it’s possible that he won’t take up either option which is a bit of a nuisance.”

Other running plans include Moon Sister, who was Listed place as a three-year-old. The Cadeaux Genereux filly will be declared for the Group 3 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket on Sunday.

Bank Holiday Monday could see Admiral Dundas involved in a 1m handicap at Beverley.
