ON the runners front it has been a quiet two weeks or so with only a couple of horses appearing on the racecourse.
One of these was Eywa, who made an encouraging start to her career at Lingfield on Wednesday.
The daughter of Mark of Esteem was slowly away in the 7f contest but the penny was beginning to drop towards the end and she finished strongly, ending up seventh.
She will have learnt plenty for that run and will hopefully show improvement when next we see her in action.
William said: “Eywa ran a good first race. She was slowly away which was expected but finished her race off well.”
Looking towards next week Head First is an intended runner in a mile and a quarter fillies’ maiden at Lingfield on Monday.
The daughter of Dansili was second at Wolverhampton on her last start and connections are hopeful that she can go one better.
Her trainer said: “She was raised ten pounds for finishing second which to me was a little steep. She will have to raise her game and produce a career best to win but she seems in good form and should go well.”
Rock A Doodle Doo is also under consideration for a mile and a quarter handicap at Lingfield on Wednesday.
