LOKI’S Revenge successfully shouldered top weight at Lingfield this afternoon to sign off in style for 2010.
The Kyllachy colt has delighted connections with his heart and desire over the past season, winning no less than four times.
This latest triumph follows a victory at Kempton two weeks ago and underlines what a hardy type he really is.
Dr Jim Walker’s horse has now featured in the first three in nine of his 12 career starts and today showed that he just goes from strength to strength.
The 6/4 favourite once again had jockey Steve Drowne for company and the pair did everything right.
Surging to lead inside the last of six furlongs, Loki’s Revenge
landed this nursery by a neck off a career high mark of 84.
Winning trainer William Jarvis said: “Loki is a little star and a really nice horse to have around at Phantom House.
“He always tries hard and today put up a career best to win. That is probably it for the winter as there are not that many races for him now.
“Also, he has been on the ‘go’ for quite a long time and deserves his break after a more than satisfactory 2010 campaign.”
Next it was the turn of Stirling Bridge to carry the pale green silks to victory in a 6f nursery at Kempton giving Dr Jim Walker double reason to celebrate.
The Kyllachy gelding frustrated a few on his previous outing in maiden company over 7f at the Surrey course.
But eased in trip he made light of his initial handicap mark of 60 to bolt up by no less than six lengths.
Jockey Steve Drowne needed to roust his mount who for a stride or two didn’t seem ready to engage after being held up.
However, Drowne’s energies paid off as Stirling Bridge knuckled down to the job in hand, going on to score as a well-backed 9/2 chance.
Trainer William Jarvis said: “It has been a very good day for Dr Jim and ourselves, so we are delighted.
“I was very disappointed with the horse on his last run three weeks ago as I thought he would win that maiden.
“But we chose to drop him back a furlong and stuck on a pair of blinkers for the first time and he has gone on to win off what was a very fair mark.”
