THIS weekend is set to be a busy one for trainer William Jarvis as he prepares to welcome a number of visitors to his Phantom House base.
On Friday afternoon manager of Status Quo, Neil Warnock, will be paying a visit ahead of his band’s performance at Newmarket after racing that evening.
He will be followed by Jamie Bowditch who will be accompanying William on to the gallops on Saturday morning to watch his horses, Cuthbert and Kerchack in their work.
Cuthbert has performed with credit on all three of his racecourse appearances including a good fourth in a hot maiden at Lingfield last weekend.
Dr Jim Walker and his family will be staying in Newmarket for the weekend principally to see his string of horses but also to cheer on Admiral Dundas in a 1m2f handicap at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon.
The son of Noverre was ninth over course and distance last time out but he had previously run a good race to finish second in a competitive handicap at York.
Jarvis said: “It is a very hot race but I hope he will run well.”
Other runners from Phantom include Mega Watt who contests a 1m2f apprentice race at Sandown this evening.
Jarvis added on the son of Acclamation: “It looks quite a trappy contest and he has failed to build on his very promising first run at Newmarket.
“We are hoping that fitting him in cheek-pieces will bring about the required improvement.”
Louis-Philippe Beuzelin takes the ride.
On Friday Moon Sister heads to York in order to line up in a 1m2f Listed race for fillies and mares only.
Jarvis said: “She got no sort of run at all at Newcastle last time out so I’d like to think we can ignore that.
“She seems in good form and the ground should suit so we are hoping that she can gain some more black-type.”
