THERE was to be no ‘magnificent seven’ for the Phantom House team as their run of winners’ came to an end on Sunday when Cuthbert finished fourth at Kempton.

The son of Bertolini had contributed to trainer William Jarvis’ tremendous run of six winners on the bounce when taking a handicap at Wolverhampton on January 22.

Unfortunately the three year old couldn’t defy his rise in the weights from that win and had to settle for minor honours on Sunday.

William said: “He ran a really game race to be fourth but he just couldn’t defy the handicapper.

“He is now off to the sales where I think he could be a nice horse to go on with. He is very sound and consistent and I hope this will reflect in his price.”

Looking ahead William is hoping that Monaco Dream can return the yard to winning ways when she lines up in a 1m2f maiden at Lingfield on Friday.

The daughter of Hawk Wing has not been seen since last June but her trainer is confident that she can do herself justice after 232 days off the track.

She has only had four racecourse appearances but her form is strong and she should be competitive.

William added: “She is coming back after a long lay-off but she is a clean winded filly and I am expecting her to run very well.

“She looks to have one of Mark Johnston’s called Abergavenny to beat and Jim Crowley has been booked to ride.”

Private Equity will aim to make it three wins from her last four starts when she runs at Wolverhampton on Monday.

Mrs Susan Davis’ filly won twice in the autumn before running well in defeat at Kempton in December.

Her trainer is hopeful that he has found an ideal opportunity for the daughter of Haafhd to get her head in front again.

He said: “The initial entries in Private Equity’s race don’t look to be of the highest quality and again I am hopeful that she can run with credit.”

Another recent winner, Head First, is also under consideration for a Claiming race on the same card but her participation is doubtful as she doesn’t come out favourably in the weights.
