CUTHBERT is set to return to action after nearly five months off the track in a 7f handicap at Lingfield this afternoon.

The son of Bertolini had a successful winter campaign which yielded two victories at Wolverhampton and Lingfield.

William has been pleased with his well-being and hopes that he can be completive in this 14 runner event.

He said: “Cuthbert runs today for the first time in the colours of Cannisbay Bloodstock.

“We gave him a bit of a break following his good winter campaign but unfortunately he is drawn 14 of 14 which, despite the aid of jockey Kieren Fallon, is going to make life very difficult for him.”

Tomorrow the Phantom House team are hopeful that Hayek can land the spoils in a mile handicap at York.

The son of Royal Applause made an encouraging return to action when second at Kempton last week and connections are hopeful that he can go one better tomorrow..

William said: “He ran really well on his seasonal reappearance but unfortunately the handicapper put him up 7lbs for finishing second.

“Because of this we have decided to run him back before his new mark takes effect and he should be very competitive.”

Also on Friday William is likely to saddle Telescopic in a 1m4f maiden at Newmarket. William added on the daughter of Galileo: “She is gradually improving with racing and I hope she can run a nice race.”
