COTTON Mill belied his odds of 66/1 to give trainer William Jarvis a high-profile victory at Newmarket's July Festival. The Tiger Hill colt, having just the second start of his life, was all but unconsidered in the betting market for the 1m 2f maiden. But as William later pointed out to the assembled press, nobody told the horse! He considerably built on last month's debut on the Rowley Mile as he fought out a thrilling finish with Nationalism after Sing Sweetly had set strong fractions earlier on. As stamina came into play, Cotton Mill stayed on best of all up the hill to win by half a length. A delighted William said: "He is a very nice horse and while the bookmakers might be surprised, we always liked him. "He is a well-bred horse, still a bit of a baby and I expect him to be even nicer next year. "In time he will get a couple of furlongs further but at the moment there is no specific plan and we are just thrilled to have won today.  He has rewarded his owner, Ali Saeed's, patience and it is lovely have a winner for Darley"
