WILLIAM will saddle a number of runners on the all-weather this winter starting with Cappielow Park who is set to contest a 7f maiden at Wolverhampton on Friday.

The son of Exceed And Excel made an encouraging start to his career when third at Yarmouth in October.

William is hopeful that he has improved for that experience and can run with credit.

He said: “He ran a nice first race at Yarmouth and he should have improved mentally and physically for that outing. Hopefully he can be competitive.”

On the home front the team at Phantom House are busy breaking in yearlings.

“We have seven in at the moment.” William said. “They should be ridden away by the middle of next week but we do lots of work at home in our ring with them before they go onto the severals and the heath.

“We aim to have them doing steady canters by December. At the moment it is all about teaching them and getting them used to their new surroundings.

“I am pleased with the bunch that we have. I especially like a Henrythenavigator filly who comes from the family of Street Cry and Shamardal. She looks to have a bit of class.

“We also have a nice, strong Dutch Art colt and a racy-looking Sakhee’s Secret. They all change so much but it is exciting seeing them progress.”
