ALL at Phantom House were thrilled to hear the news that two of their nominations had made it to the shortlist of the Godolphin Stable Staff awards.
Both Travelling Head Lad Malcolm Winter and secretary Bee Chapman have successfully made it into the final ten of their respective categories.
Mally has been with William since the start of his training career 25 years ago and is an integral part of the team. Not only is he a first class traveller but he also excels in stalls work and has a real knack with calming and teaching young horses. Mally can also be found doing all sorts of DIY jobs in the yard and is a very accomplished painter, plasterer and plumber.
He said: “I am really excited to be through to the final ten and would like to thank Bee for nominating me for the High Achiever Award.”
Bee, who is through to the final ten in the Dedication to Racing category, has been with William for 11 years. She does a great job as secretary and is always a friendly face whether it is in the office or during her other role, riding out.
Bee said: “I’m absolutely thrilled. It’s a real honour to be through and to have my name alongside the likes of Colin Nutter, Jimmy Scott. Chris Conway and Clifford Baker, who are held in such high esteem.”
William added: “I am very pleased that both Bee and Mally are through. It is great that two of my senior staff have been recognised for all the hard work and dedication that they have contributed over the years. I hope that they can make it into the final three but whatever happens it is a great achievement.
“We were lucky enough to win with head lad Karen two years ago so fingers crossed for another win this year.”
