WITH the end of the turf season soon upon us William has very few runners but all at Phantom House are busy breaking in yearlings and looking for another future star.
Lady Howard de Walden’s Qushchi kept the dreams alive for 2011 with a smooth success in a Newmarket maiden on Saturday.
The daughter of Encosta de Lago beat a number of well-regarded rivals and could be an exciting member of the team for next year.
William said: “Qushchi has come out of her race very well. We shall put her away for the winter now and have plenty of time to contemplate her future.
“I imagine that she will receive plenty of big entries and we will have something to dream about over the winter.”
Last week William sold six horses at the Horses In Training Sale at Tattersalls.
He added: “I thought that in general they sold well. Kay Gee Be made 27,000 to continue his career with Richard Fahy. Dr Jim Walker got a satisfactory price for Grey Granite (26,000gns) and Admiral Cochrane (16,000gns).
“Grey Granite has been bought to go jumping by Highflyer Bloodstock and will go into training with Warren Greatrex. Admiral Cochrane has been sold to continue racing in Kuwait.
“Stoical, sold to dissolve a partnership, made 36,000gns and has gone to trainer Luca Cumani.”
