TRAINER William Jarvis is looking forward to a big run from Archie Rice in a mile handicap at Sandown tomorrow.

The son of Arch has run well in some competitive handicaps this year and should go close in tomorrow’s contest.

Jarvis said: “He perhaps hasn’t performed as well as we had hoped he would in the early part of the year but the handicapper has dropped him a little and this looks an ideal opportunity for him to get his head in front.”

A field of 10 has been declared for the race and Archie Rice’s regular race partner, Alan Munro has been booked for the ride.

On Saturday Kay Gee Be heads to Doncaster for a mile handicap.

Like Archie Rice he has performed with credit in the hot races and his connections remain hopeful that a race of this nature can come his way.

Jarvis said of the son of Fasliyev: “Once again this looks competitive but he has held his form well this year and seems to prefer running on straight mile.

“I hope he can put his best foot forward as he really deserves a win.”

Looking towards next week Jarvis is hoping that Clerk’s Choice can return to the winners circle in a 1m2f handicap at Leicester on Wednesday.

He added: “Clerk’s Choice was slightly unlucky at Chester last time. He seems in good form at home so I hope he can win again.”
