WILLIAM JARVIS' strong finish to the year continued at Wolverhampton today when Admiral Cochrane justified favouritism in the 6f nursery.
Dr Jim Walker's colt had been in the first three in each of his last three starts and deserved to get his head in front.
His recent consistency saw to it that he was sent off an even money shot for his latest assignment in which he was ridden by Rab Havlin.
The son of Noverre missed a beat leaving the stalls and was held up for a run down the home straight.
The Admiral duly came there full of running but met some trouble in running just as he was starting to get into full stride over a furlong from home.
Havlin kept cool and switched his mount to the inside and he ran on well to score by three parts of a length.
Phantom House trainer Jarvis almost nailed a double on the day as half an hour earlier the debutante Katy's Secret made a very encouraging debut, finishing second.
The Mind Games filly stayed on well through the latter part of the 6f maiden and only went down by three quarters of a length to indicate her day will come, possibly over a little further.
