THE yearling sales season is well underway with both Deauville and Doncaster been and gone and now all eyes turn to Newmarket and Tattersalls.

William was delighted with his first yearling purchase of the year, an Ishiguru colt, brought for £12,000 at Doncaster’s Premier Yearling sale.

William said: “He 1s a nice easy moving colt from a good Front Row family which we have had a lot of success with in the past.

“I was amazed how well the market stood up without the support of the Maktoum family. Overall Doncaster produced a pretty nice type of horse and the market held up accordingly.”

On the runners front William is set to be double handed in the 6f maiden at Newmarket on Saturday.

Both Aquilifer and Bougatti will face the starter and the pair shall both be awarded a handicap mark after this run.

William added: “We have had a lot of rain over the last 24 hours but hopefully the ground won’t be too sticky. It will be good to get some more experience into them and they should have a fitness advantage on many of their unraced rivals.”

In the evening Stoical will be in action in an amateur riders race at Windsor.

His trainer said: “He didn’t seem to stay the mile and six last time and hopefully the drop back in trip will see him to better effect.”
